Summer Day Camp Frequently Asked Questions

“How do I register my child(ren)?”

Parents must complete the Summer Day Camp registration packet, available on our website and in the District Office.  This packet must be on file before participating in any District activity.  The packet can be mailed, faxed, or dropped off to our District Office at 1415 Rushden Drive, Sacramento 95864.  We accept cash, check, and Visa or Mastercard as forms of payment.  Visa or Mastercard payments are accepted in our office or by phone, 916.487.7851.  A registration packet must be on file in order to make a payment over the phone.

“My child is nervous about their first day of camp. Can I stay with them?

Can I visit during the day?”

You are welcome to stay with your child as long as you feel is necessary.  Some children are very sensitive to their parent’s emotions.  If you are nervous about this new experience, your child may pick up on your anxiety. Approach this as a new adventure, make plans to discuss your child’s day with them over dinner, and enthusiastically encourage them to meet new friends and try new activities. You are always welcome to visit camp.  Please check-in with the staff when you arrive.

“My child’s sibling is ALMOST five years old, can he/she participate?”

No, our program is designed to meet the physical and social needs of the 5 to 12 years old child.  Please wait until your child has had their fifth birthday.

“Is there a refrigerator where my child can keep their lunch/medicine, etc.?”

We have a refrigerator available for campers to store their lunch/medicine. Please clearly label their things.

“If I need to work late occasionally, do I have to pay for the additional hours?  What if I drop them off late?”

All campers must be picked up before 6pm.  You will not be credited for dropping off your child late.  To ensure your child is able to enjoy all activities, you are encouraged to drop off your child by 9am.

“My child doesn’t want to swim.”

The Summer Day Camp staff will provide fun games and activities for those who do not wish to swim. All campers, swimmers and non-swimmers must stay in the pool area.

“What do I do if my child has head lice, chicken pox, or other health issues?”

Please contact us at (916) 487-7851 immediately.  We will, discretely inform other parents to watch their own child for symptoms.  Children will be allowed back to camp at the discretion of the Camp Director.

“How do I add someone to my child’s pick up list?”

Upon enrollment, you will receive a packet of information, including your child’s emergency form.  This form will list anyone who has permission to pick up your child.  To change or add to this list, please send a note with your child to camp, or call the District Office at 916.487.7851 and leave a message.

“Can you give my child medication?”

Children will be reminded to take medication, but they are responsible for actually doing so.  Camp staff cannot administer or hold onto medication.
