Summer Day Camp

Parent Information Policies and Information

Arden Manor Recreation and Park District’s Summer Day Camp program is a valuable summer experience available to students in Kindergarten – 6th grade (as of September 2010). The camp begins June 14th and runs weekdays, from 7am to 6pm, through August 20th. This program meets at Deterding Park, located at 1415 Rushden Drive. Please call Summer Camp Director Meghan Sullivan at 916.487.7851, or meghan@amrpd.org for any questions about the Summer Day Camp program.

Program Description

Participants will take part in traditional and non-traditional sports, fun games, cooking projects, special guest speakers, field trips, creative projects, swimming and more. Trained staff will supervise participants while emphasizing the importance of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and cooperation through games, sports, and group activities.

Lunch and Snack

Parents provide a sack lunch every week of camp, Monday through Friday. Participants will make their own lunches on Wednesdays; June 23, July 7 and 21, August 4 and 18 through our Kids in the Kitchen Series. Water is available throughout the day, please send a labeled water bottle with your child. Morning and afternoon snacks are encouraged. Campers may purchase snacks at the pool snack bar on swim days. Please indicate any food allergies your child may have on their registration form.

Swim Days

The camp will be going to the pool on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the afternoon. We will also be playing water sports and water games on non-swim days to stay cool. Please send a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen with your child for every day of camp.

Clothing and Valuables

Campers should come to camp wearing closed-toed shoes. Campers can bring sandals to wear at the pool if desired, but campers will not be able to participate in sporting activities without the proper footwear. Considering the emphasis on play and outside activities throughout the day, comfortable play clothes are encouraged. It is important that all campers bring their own sun block as they will be outside for a majority of the day. Please label sweaters, bathing suits, towels, and anything that is brought from home to avoid mix-ups with belongings. Arden Manor Recreation and Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
